Carburising and Controlled Atmosphere Hardening – RCR Mining Technologies

Carburising and Controlled Atmosphere Hardening

Controlled atmosphere heat treatment is used on finished or semi-finished product to avoid high temperature oxidation and scale or to impregnate the surface with hardening elements.

  • RCR Heat treatment has extensive gas carburising / oil quenching capacity with a line of three integral quench (gas carburising) furnaces and associated equipment. The largest load is ~ 1300mm x 800mm x 630mm. This suits high volume alloy steel heat treatments down to one off machined pieces.
  • RCR Heat treatment also has three fluidised bed furnaces. The largest is ~ID550 x 850mm. These find particular use for tool steels and nitro-carburising of finished components.
