Induction Heating – Hardening
Induction is a non-contact electrical process allowing rapid heating of the surface of steels. This can be used for surface hardening or simply as an efficient heating method for preheats and fitting of components.
Carburising and Controlled Atmosphere Hardening
Controlled atmosphere heat treatment is used on finished or semi-finished product to avoid high temperature oxidation and scale or to impregnate the surface with hardening elements.
Normalising, Annealing and Solutionising
Normalising is a process that is used to improve the grain structure and make a metal more ductile after it has been exposed to thermal or mechanical hardening processes.
Refractory Dry-out
RCR Heat treatment is experienced in the dry out process in refractory. We utilise both electric and gas options depending on the size of the work piece. This can be accomplished both in-house and on-site.
Post Weld Heat Treatment
Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) is the heating process carried out after welding is complete. In some cases, an intermediate bake-out / de-gas will be performed if not going directly into the stress relieving phase.
Mechanical Testing
RCR Heat Treatment, Welshpool, has a NATA accredited mechanical testing laboratory. We perform standard tests for batch production qualification. We also offer this service for testing of metals.
Cryogenic – Ageing – Tempering
Cryogenics is generally used as a stage in particular hardening processes. Tempering and ageing are usually low-temperature final stages in a hardening process.
